Your heating and cooling systems work very hard providing their functions in your home everyday. Your HVAC system is actually the single largest user of energy in your home. The constant starting, stopping, and continuous operation can wear down any machine if not properly cared for and maintained. Think of it like being a full time uber driver without ever getting the fluids, oil, or tires checked and changed in your car. Getting regular maintenance on your system can prevent many common equipment failures and maximize the lifetime of your unit.
Air conditioners and heat pumps need a professional tune-up twice a year(in the spring and fall). Inspections on boiler and furnace systems should include valves, chimney, registers, pipes, radiators, blowers, oil tank, fuel lines and all parts of the actual boiler and furnace. Inspections of your air conditioner and heat pump should include inspection of the compressor, refrigerant lines, fan, indoor coils, and outdoor coils.
Because they are electronic, programmable thermostats are more accurate and economical than mercury containing thermostats. You can control the temperature in your home throughout the day without ever physically touching your thermostat. It gives you peace of mind because everything is automatic and you’ll never forget to change the setting on your own.
While a standard filter can keep your ductwork and system clean they do not really improve your I.A.Q.. To improve your indoor air quality you need a media air filter. A media air filter sits between your system's blower cabinet and main return duct. This will boost the removal of dust and particles in your home up to 7X that of a standard filter. One step above that is a pleated media filter, which will remove everything from dust particles to airborne viruses from your filtered air. You should always choose a filter that meets your blower’s capacity. For peak efficiency and filtration we recommend that you replace your filters at least every one to three months. In turn if your home has washable filters, they should be cleaned every one to three months.
Filters for some units are made from higher-quality materials than disposable filters found at retail stores. Because of that, replacement filters can only be purchased from a specified dealer. However, some filters are reusable and can be washed by hand in cold water.
A Certified HVAC technician is the best resource to identify and supply the correct, current parts for your system.
Many factors affect the sizing and specifics of your system. This includes insulation, windows surface and configuration, square footage, location of your home, duct arrangement and size, just to name a few. Our HVAC techs can perform an in-home load analysis to determine which combinations of equipment will best suit your home and needs. Based on the construction of your home one ton of air conditioning can cool 300 to 800 sq ft of a home. The only way to be sure the size of your system will be large enough to heat or cool your home while not being larger than you need, is to have your heating and cooling needs evaluated by a professional.
Your indoor air quality can be up to 100 times worse than the outdoor air. That means pollutants, allergens, dust, and mildew can be circulating in your home's air. This in turn affects your family’s health and wellbeing.
Zoned HVAC reduces energy waste caused by your HVAC unit working so hard to regulate the temperature in your home. It also provides better comfort control, decreases your energy bills, and gives you higher energy efficiency.
You should call a Zoned In HVAC technician as soon as possible. Whether your AC freezes inside or at the outdoor unit, you have a serious problem. When your AC is frozen, you could subject your system to serious damage if it isn’t addressed promptly.
A dual zone air conditioning system is a network of thermostats and duct dampers that regulate the amount of cooled air each room(or zone) receives throughout the day. Zoning technology gives homeowners the ability to cool only the occupied areas of living space at any time or to set different temperatures in different areas of the home.
Saving money on your monthly electric bills in the summer is important—so what is the most efficient thermostat setting during those scorching Oklahoma summers? We recommend keeping your thermostat set to a minimum of 72 degrees with the fan set to AUTO opposed to ON.
The short answer, yes. Regular furnace cleanings improve the overall performance and efficiency of your entire system. Also most manufacturer warranties require annual service in order to maintain the warranty.
Under the factory warranty, parts are covered that fail during the warranty period due to defects in the part. The warranty does not cover labor. A warranty certificate is included with your homeowner information that also includes the specific model numbers, serial numbers, and installation dates of your products. If you cannot find your warranty certificate we can also provide that information for you.
Professional products are among the longest lasting cooling and heating products available. For your equipment there are many variables that may affect life expectancy including the consistency of regular maintenance.
A ductless mini-split system is an alternative to traditional heating and cooling. Ductless HVAC works similarly to central heating and cooling with the exception of it doesn’t require any ductwork. A mini-split system will have an outdoor and indoor unit, but will only require a small hole to be cut through the exterior wall(only big enough for a tube of refrigerant to pass through). Inside your home, the air will be conditioned and returned into the room by the same unit.
The optimum indoor range is around 35% relative humidity, but 30% to 40% tends to work best in many people's homes. If you go above this level of humidity condensation on the windows can occur causing the breeding of mold that leads to allergy and respiratory problems. Dust mites are the leading cause of allergies and thrive in as little as 50% relative humidity. Molds thrive in relative humidity above 60%, leading to a variety of ailments including asthma, allergies and respiratory infections. However too little humidity can lead to dry nose and throat, dry skin, and static electricity, which can also ruin electronic devices such as computers, VCR's, and DVD players.
While pilot lights do go out from time to time, your pilot light constantly going out can indicate a problem. If your pilot light does happen to go out you should always follow your appliance instructions before anything else. If you have a standing-pilot system here is how to light it. **Keep in mind most new systems do not have a pilot light, they use a spark ignitor or electronic ignition.**

Electric systems usually have a large electrical wire running through it to supply its power. Gas systems on the other hand will always have a flue pipe that is usually located on the indoor portion of your system. Typically if you have a gas bill, you have a gas furnace. However, if you're still having trouble just give us a call, a Zoned In technician would be happy to help you assess what type of system you have in your home.
This typically means your indoor coil is dirty and needs to be cleaned.
This can mean that you have a system that is too big for your home so the system is getting your home cool but not running long enough to remove the moisture. You may want to consider a dehumidifier or having your system calibrations assessed by a technician.
Adding insulation, upgrading windows, and installing thicker window treatments can all reduce the load on your system.
In addition to potentially costing less money each month on your energy bill there are several incentives offered through the Department of Energy. Also many local power and gas companies give financial incentives for updating your system. We recommend you look at their websites for each company's specifics.
